EFD

efd.jpgTDK (Epcos) offers 5 standard  EFD (Economic Flat Transformer Design)  core shapes made of power ferrite materials N87, N97, N49. An advantage of  EFD-core  is the possibility to design low-profile compact transformers using traditional ordinary machine winding based on this core shape. Low height of ready-made transformers and chokes provides a good mechanical stability of winding products based on EFD-cores. IT gives a possibility of their usage in the assembly together with coil formers for surface mounting.

Information for Ordering

These cores are supplied as single units.
Gapped EFD cores are supplied with toleranced AL value as specified in the data sheets. The AL value applies to a core set comprising one ungapped core (dimension g = 0) and one gapped core (dimension g > 0).

Example of EPCOS ordering code structure

N87 EFD15/8/5 AL=160nH B66413U0160L187
B66413 — Part number
U0160 — AL value in nH (AL=160 nH) given only for gapped cores. Not specified for ungapped cores
L — АL (±15% for letter "L") tolerance
87 - material N87
