Clamp Filters (Ferrite Core with Case)

Interferences appear practically in all cables and break a regular work of devices and induce characteristics decreasing. At the same moment, any electronic device is able to become a source of interference and to worsen the electric energy quality in a power line.

As an example, one can mention:
  • harmonic 50-Hz interference;
  • current interferences in device power;
  • interferences in SMPS;
  • high-frequency interferences.
These interferences are induced and accepted by a cable, as an antenna like in the form of electromagnetic interferences.
To prevent the signal distortion and field emission inserted into an ambient environment by a cable, one can use expensive cable shielding. In such a way as an alternative and inexpensive decision, one can note the application of clamp filters.

TDK developed a unique series of clamp filters ZCAT, suitable for EMI suppression in cables. Among the advantages of clamp filters ZCAT in comparison with filters produced by other manufacturers, one can note an extremally high value of impedance in a required range. As a result, the best EMI suppression is being provided.
Clamp filters ZCAT TDK are comfortable when using and mounting. They consist of two ferrite parts arranged in a plastic case joined by a lock. Thanks to such a construction, a filter is easily mounted on a cable. In order to provide a high level of interference suppression, it is recommended to place ferrite filters near the entering of the protected device.
ZCAT filters are being produced depending on the  form and diameter of a wire. Among key characteristics when choosing ferrite filters, one can mention the inside diameter of theprotected cable and maximal impedance value in the determined range of frequencies.
